XBOX 360 S

I recently purchased an Xbox 360 S for the family, mostly my son, for Christmas last year. I have always been a Play Station and SNES fan and have not been too sure about these new gaming systems with all of the buttons and joysticks. The only buttons I need are up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, and A! I definitely was holding off on buying an Xbox purely for the fact that it was a Microsoft product. I have had plenty of BSoD

in my time and am not ready to experience that on a gaming system. Then I have heard from friends who have an older Xbox about the Red Ring of Death (RRoD). No thanks on that. So I hear that the new one is RRoD-proof and that the ventilation was improved. Okay, so maybe Microsoft got their game together. Wrong! After owning my Xbox 360 S for four months and two weeks, I get a serious problem. My Xbox will not power on. I do not have the RRoD

but the Red Dot of Death! After a few hours of searching the Web for a solution, there are only two that came up more than any others. Unplug and let it sit until it cools down or send it to Microsoft to be serviced. I left mine unplugged overnight just to make sure it cooled down. The next morning I plugged everything back in except this time in the wall outlet and not the surge protector and VOILA! It works! Okay, so it worked this time. What about the next time? Not only am I disgusted with the hardware problems and overheating, but the Xbox Live account feature is pretty ridiculous. I can understand needing an account to use an online game that needs constant updating, servicing, and support. But what if I wanted to use the free App on my device in which I already pay them 8 bucks a month to have?! I am talking about Netflix on the Xbox. Luckily, we purchased the Wii a couple years earlier. It is free to play Netflix on the Wii without having to pay an extra fee to Nintendo in order to use your App on your own device! Come on Microsoft!? Why should I have to pay for an Xbox Live account to watch a program on my device? Maybe I will sell my Xbox and get a Play Station 3. I hear their player network is free. Tell me what you think. Should I give Microsoft more time to get their stuff together or just abandon them all together and go to another gaming system?
